FAQs

Everything You Need to Know

We’re so glad you’re curious about BookLoop!

Whether you’re a teacher, administrator, parent, or community partner, we’ve gathered answers to some of the most common questions we hear. Explore the sections below to learn more about how BookLoop helps kids fall in love with reading.

Program Basics

BookLoop is a book distribution solution that helps schools and communities give kids daily access to books, either through our classroom BookLoop system, by mail, or through community book events.

BookLoop is perfect for elementary school classrooms, community groups, and families looking to improve daily reading habits and language comprehension for kids from Pre-K through 5th grade.

Classroom Integration

Almost none! The BookLoop team will set up the program for you and run the backend. Teachers spend just a few minutes a day overseeing it, and, once students select their book, most of the process is automated.

You’ll need a tablet or computer with internet access and a camera. We provide everything else, including software, training, and support.

Book Selection

Yes. We want students to have the experience of autonomy and independence in selecting their books, and our experience tells us they usually pick a book that is just right for them.

The BookLoop team curates every single title available to schools, ensuring a wide variety of books, topics, and interests that are age appropriate.

Please do! We’d love to hear your feedback on book selection.

Cost & Funding

Costs vary depending on the program type (Classroom, Mail, or Community), number of students, and book volume. We offer flexible pricing for schools, districts, and nonprofits.

Our mission is to remove barriers to book access, not create them. In most instances, BookLoop serves Title I schools and neighborhoods, with the express intent that our programs are free of charge to families.

Impact & Outcomes

BookLoop students have shown improvements in reading outcomes when they take home 80 or more books per year. Please see our Impact page for a review of the literature and our five-year longitudinal program evaluation.

Yes! Teachers and administrators have access to a dashboard showing book checkouts, return rates, and engagement.

Of course! We provide regular reporting to help track program usage and literacy outcomes.

Lost Books

In our experience, books usually aren’t permanently lost. Please continue sending books home.

We have a simple process for replacing lost books and can replenish your inventory as needed, no hassle, no judgment.

Yes! Rural areas are among the book deserts we aim to flood with our books.
